CLIENT Thessaloniki Concert Hall
Handel’s classic opera Giulio Cesare was performed at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall in a subversive production with the protagonist Roman emperor as a contemporary star. Egypt gives him a Hollywood welcome, bursting with journalists, cameras and admirers. Cesare greets the crowds; the flash bulbs light up.
The cheerleaders and cameras that appear at the start of the production inspired the design. Cesare arrives in Egypt as a would-be world leader on his traditional American-style campaign tour. Posters and flyers announce his arrival, badges are handed out to people. The printed material was designed, produced and strategically distributed in the city of Thessaloniki, following genuine campaign tactics, to herald Giulio Cesare. The welcome peaked on the evening of the premiere, with the development of communications material creating a climate that put the public in the mood for the performance.
